YANGON, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Two towns in Myanmar experienced the lowest temperature in 28 years and 36 years respectively on Tuesday, according to the country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

Namhsan, a town in eastern Shan state, logged its lowest temperature in 28 years at 12.5 degrees Celsius, the weather bureau said.

Kyauktaw, a town in western Rakhine state, also on Tuesday recorded a temperature of 17.1 degrees Celsius, the lowest in 36 years, it said.

Two towns in the central Magway Region experienced the heaviest single-day rainfalls in decades on Sunday, when the extremely severe cyclonic storm Mocha made landfall near Sittwe in Rakhine state and raged in the country, killing at least five people.
