MEXICO CITY, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Tigres UANL and Guadalajara advanced to the Liga MX Clausura semifinals by surviving pulsating quarterfinal second-leg matches on Sunday.
Tigres won their first leg against Toluca 4-1 at home but saw their lead evaporate after Edgar Lopez scored twice and Marcel Ruiz added another goal inside the hour at Estadio Nemesio Diez.
Sebastian Cordova restored Tigres' lead by lashing home after Andre-Pierre Gignac's cross 19 minutes from time.
It was enough to secure his team a 5-4 win on aggregate and set up a semifinal berth against Monterrey.
Meanwhile, a second-half header from Gilberto Sepulveda earned Guadalajara a 1-1 draw on aggregate against Atlas.
Chivas advanced by virtue of their higher position in the table at the end of the regular season and they will now face Club America in the semifinals. ■
