BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:

1. Chinese premier meets with IOC president in Beijing

Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with visiting International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach in Beijing on May 6. They discussed the great success and legacy of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Bach, who has been to China for the first time since Beijing 2022, thanked the Chinese government for its support to hold the Games amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bach's visit (May 5 until May 9) took him to Beijing, Qufu, Hangzhou and Shanghai.


2. Beijing 2022 organizing committee reports surplus of 52 million dollars

The Organizing Committee for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (BOCOG) achieved a surplus of 350 million yuan (52 million U.S. dollars) from its organizational budget, according to a BOCOG financial report released on May 6.

Having hosted a "simple, safe and splendid" Beijing 2022, BOCOG revealed that it had revenues of 15.39 billion yuan (2.29 billion U.S. dollars) and expenditures of 15.04 billion yuan (2.24 billion U.S. dollars).


3. China wins 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in Wuhan

China claimed the title at the first stop of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series after storming past Australia 21-13 in Wuhan, China, on May 7.

The Chinese team for this series features Tokyo Olympic bronze medalists Wang Lili, Zhang Zhiting and Wan Jiyuan, along with Zhang Yi, who was recruited into the team this year. The team plans to compete in the next stop of the Series in Astara, Azerbaijan after a short period of adjustment.


4. China's Luo crowned in women's 59kg at Asian Weightlifting Championships

China's Luo Shifang took two gold medals and one silver in the women's 59kg category at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jinju, South Korea on May 7.

Luo lifted 105kg in the snatch to pocket gold, beating her compatriot Pei Xinyi to second with 103kg who failed with 106kg on her final attempt.


5. Liaoning takes 2-0 lead in CBA Finals

The Liaoning Flying Leopards stay right on course to win the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league title for the third time after beating the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in Game 1 and Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Game 3 will take place at Liaoning's home court in Shenyang on May 13 evening.


6. China takes two gold at ISSF Baku World Cup

Chinese shooters Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao edged their compatriots Wang Zhilin and Yang Haoran 16-14 to win the gold medal of the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 11.

China's Han Jiayu then took the women's 10m air rifle title and compatriot Huang Yuting added a bronze. Olympic silver medalist Sheng Lihao bagged a bronze in the men's 10m air rifle event.
