GABORONE, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Botswana intends to prioritize the development of digital infrastructure to support the growth and integration of solutions driven by artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors by investing in high-speed connectivity, data centers, and cybersecurity measures, an official has said.
"We can provide a solid foundation for AI innovation and ensure that our nation remains at the cutting edge of technology," said Nonofo Kgaodi, acting coordinator at the Digital Transformation Coordination Office in the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, on Thursday at the launch of Xavier AI, a subsidiary of Botswana-headquartered software development company Xavier Africa.
He said the government is dedicated to promoting public awareness and understanding of AI technologies by engaging in open dialogue and fostering an environment of knowledge-sharing.
"We can demystify AI and empower our citizens to embrace its potential benefits," Kgaodi said.
Motheo Letshwiti, co-founder of Xavier Africa, said the business unit will combine a deep understanding of business operations with unrivaled technological expertise and strategy to deliver meaningful results.
"By developing sophisticated models that analyze various economic indicators and market trends, our predictive analytics solutions have been enabling regulators to anticipate potential risks and implement proactive rather than reactive measures to maintain financial stability and transparency," he said. ■
