KABUL, May 11 (Xinhua) -- A fresh batch of 40 million U.S. dollars in cash as humanitarian aid reached war-torn Afghanistan on Thursday, said a statement of Da Afghanistan Bank, the country's central bank.
Welcoming the step as a move to stabilize the country's impoverished economy, the statement added that the amount had been deposited in a private commercial bank here in Kabul.
Afghanistan has received more than 2 billion dollars in cash over the past 18 months as part of the international community's humanitarian aid to prevent the economic collapse of the cash-strapped country. ■
