RIO DE JANEIRO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international striker Alexandre Pato is close to rejoining former club Sao Paulo as a free agent, according to Brazilian media reports.
The 33-year-old has not played since suffering a knee ligament injury while playing for Orlando City last September.
He parted ways with the Major League Soccer club in December and has since been undergoing rehabilitation with Sao Paulo medical staff, Globo Esporte reported.
It added that Sao Paulo were likely to confirm an agreement with the forward within days.
Pato, who has 27 Brazil caps and 10 international goals, has scored 47 times in 133 games over two separate spells with Sao Paulo.
Sao Paulo are currently fifth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with seven points from four matches so far this season. ■
