MEXICO CITY, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Atlas and Santos Laguna reached the quarterfinals of Mexico's Liga MX on Saturday by winning their respective playoff matches.
Santos Laguna advanced with a penalty shootout victory at Pachuca after a pulsating 4-4 draw in normal time.
Cristian Arango, Roberto de la Rosa, Romario Ibarra and Erick Sanchez scored for the hosts while Harold Preciado, Felix Torres, Raul Lopez and Doria were on target for Santos Laguna.
Rivaldo Lozano converted the decisive spot-kick for the visitors after Gustavo Cabral and Paulino de la Fuente missed their attempts for Pachuca.
Atlas had a more comfortable passage to the last eight as a goal from Brian Lozano set up a 1-0 victory at Cruz Azul. ■
