TEHRAN, May 5 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian minister said Iran and Syria are ready to increase the number of weekly flights between them to facilitate the bilateral trade, semi-official Mehr news agency reported Friday.
Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iranian minister of roads and urban development, made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian traders and businessmen in Syria during his two-day visit to the Syrian capital Damascus.
He added his ministry will also spare no effort to boost maritime trade between the two countries, and is currently working with the Syrian side to ease certain regulations in the foreign currency market and banking sectors which have hindered Iranian private businesses' activities in Syria.
During the meeting, Iranian traders and businessmen asked the two countries to establish shipping lines between their ports, enabling them to carry bigger shipments to and from Syria.
Bazrpash was in Syria as a member of a high-level Iranian delegation led by President Ebrahim Raisi. ■
