ISLAMABAD, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Police in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday killed a most wanted terrorist in an encounter in the district of Dera Ismail Khan, said an official statement.
According to police, the terrorist named Muhammad Iqbal alia Bali Khiyar was killed near Fateh Mor area of the district along with his companion.
The personnel of the Anti-Terrorist Squad of police surrounded the terrorists and asked them to surrender, but they opened fire at police and resultantly they were shot dead in the fire exchange, added police.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces of the country had announced head money for the terrorist who was wanted in 26 cases related to terrorism, targeted killing and kidnapping of police officers and civilians for ransom.
According to police, the slain terrorist was also involved in an attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009. ■
