NEW YORK, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 5 percent to 5.25 percent as the Fed "remains highly attentive to inflation risks."
As the tenth hike since March 2022, the continuous tightening of monetary policy is in line with market expectations.
However, there is growing calls for the pause of hikes as U.S. inflation eased recently and recession risks heightened. ■
