SHANGHAI, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai received over 15.6 million visits during the five-day May Day holiday, with tourism revenue reaching 18.9 billion yuan (about 2.7 billion U.S. dollars), authorities said Wednesday.
More than 300 cultural and tourism activities were rolled out during the holiday, according to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism.
The city's main tourist attractions received nearly 6.4 million visits. The average occupancy rate of Shanghai's hotels was 71 percent, 12 percentage points higher than during the same period of 2019.
The Shanghai Longhua Temple Fair, a major project of national intangible cultural heritage, re-opened during the May Day holiday and attracted nearly 70,000 visits.
In the fair, visitors enjoyed performances of folk arts and operas, and learned intangible cultural heritage skills such as making enamelware. ■
