RIO DE JANEIRO, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Santos playmaker Yeferson Soteldo will miss his team's visit to Newell's Old Boys in the Copa Sudamericana on Tuesday because of a hamstring tear, the Brazilian club said on Monday.
The 25-year-old Venezuela international sustained the injury in the second-half of Santos' 3-2 home victory over America Mineiro in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.
Soteldo did not travel with the Santos squad to the Argentinian city of Rosario on Tuesday and is likely to be replaced in the starting line-up by Angelo Damaceno, Lucas Braga or Daniel Ruiz.
Santos are currently second in the Copa Sudamericana Group E standings with four points from two games.
Newell's, who lead the group, are winless in their past three league outings. ■
