ERDOS, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Seedling plantation for sand control of the Desert Kubuqi are carried out from March to May every year in the ecology restoration area of Elion Resources Group in Erdos, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

During this period, thousands of workers from nearby northwest China's Gansu Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are organized to live and work temporarily for nearly two months in the deep desert, contributing to the sand control efforts of Kubuqi.

Kubuqi, the seventh largest desert in China, is a good example of China's success in alleviating desertification. After years of varies input, the desert's vegetation coverage rate has reached 53 percent.
