JAKARTA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- A passenger speed boat carrying about 80 people capsized in the waters off Riau province in western Indonesia on Thursday, leaving at least 5 people dead and several others trapped inside the sunken boat, an official said.
The speed boat, SB Evelyn Calisca 01, sank in the waters off Pulau Burung of Indragiri Hilir district at about 16:00 p.m. Jakarta time (0900 GMT), Kukuh Widodo, press officer at the provincial search and rescue office, told Xinhua via phone.
"So far five bodies have been found and several passengers are still trapped inside the boat," he said.
Rescuers are attempting to remove the victims from the boat, saying that several people have been rescued safely from the fatal incident, Widodo said. ■
