LANZHOU, April 25 (Xinhua) -- UHV is defined as voltage of 1,000 kilovolts or above in alternating current and 800 kilovolts or above in direct current. UHV power lines can deliver large quantities of power over long distances with less power loss than the more commonly used 500-kilovolt lines.
There are currently 4 ultra-high voltage direct current power transmission (UHVDC) lines in operation in Gansu.
The power lines require regular maintenance to ensure smooth operation.
The electricity generated by renewable energy in Gansu exceeded 40 billion kWh in 2021, benefiting more than 20 other provinces and cities via ultra-high voltage transmission.
