YAOUNDE, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Gunmen have killed four civilians in an attack on a village in Cameroon's restive Anglophone region of Northwest, according to local and security sources.
Scores of residents were also injured in the attack, which occurred between Saturday and Sunday in the Mbei village of the region.
Local authorities said the attack was carried out by separatist fighters known to be active in the region. Separatists have not claimed responsibility.
The Central African nation has been battling against a violent separatist insurgency in its two Anglophone regions of Northwest and Southwest since 2017. ■
