RIO DE JANEIRO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Vinicius Lima and Marcilio Mota scored either side of halftime as Fluminense moved two points clear at the top of Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday with a 2-0 home victory over Athletico Paranaense.
Lima opened the scoring with a long-range strike, and Mota doubled the advantage by heading home after Alexsander Costa's corner.
The result at the Maracana stadium leaves Fluminense with six points from two matches, two points ahead of second-placed Bragantino. Paranaense are ninth, three points off the pace.
Meanwhile, Sao Paulo recorded their first league victory of the season with a 3-0 home defeat of America Mineiro. Luciano Neves, Jonathan Calleri and Marcos Paulo were on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Cruzeiro won 1-0 at home to Gremio, and Bragantino drew 1-1 at Cuiaba. ■
