TEHRAN, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Iranian border guards seized a big batch of illegal weapons and ammunition, containing 70 firearms and over 11,000 bullets, in a border area in the western province of Ilam, the official news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.
The haul comprised 60 Colt pistols, 10 Kalashnikov rifles, 11,395 bullets, and 120 magazines, Einollah Niazifar, a district judge in Dehloran County, was quoted as saying.
He added one trafficker has been arrested and handed over to judicial authorities, stressing that arms trafficking into the country is aimed at inciting riots and insecurity. ■
