SIEM REAP, Cambodia, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Sankranta means "beginning of a new year" in Cambodia's Khmer language. At the famed Angkor Archeological Park, artists here perform archery during the Sankranta festival or traditional New Year celebrations.

Starting on Friday, the three-day Sankranta festival is the largest annual holiday in the Southeast Asian country. Various activities enriched the whole celebrations, with people blowing trumpets in the parade, spraying water on the grass, and men participating in archery competitions, which are cheerful and enthusiastic.
