LAGOS, April 4 (Xinhua) -- An official in Nigeria's northern state of Kaduna on Tuesday announced that a group of gunmen kidnapped 10 secondary school students in the Kachia area of the state Monday.
State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan stressed in a statement that the particular location of the incident was not known yet.
"The Kaduna State Government has received preliminary reports from security agencies on the kidnapping of about 10 students in the Kachia local government area," he said. "According to the preliminary reports, the students of the government secondary school in Awon were kidnapped on Monday."
"The exact location of the incident is yet to be ascertained, but detailed reports being awaited will clarify whether the incident occurred within the school premises or elsewhere," the commissioner emphasized. "The government will issue a public statement accordingly when these reports are received." ■
