Other paddlers to compete in the table tennis worlds have been selected by the coaching group based on their overall competitiveness and results in international competitions.
Chen, who has been recovering from injury, said that she would treasure every chance of competing in major tournaments.
"For me, every tournament is a new challenge. I have not been in fine shape recently, so I need to adjust my mindset going into this competition," commented the Olympic women's singles champion.
Xiao Zhan, veteran coach and head of the mixed doubles coaching group, said that youngsters Lin Shidong and Kuai Man have earned their spots in the squad with their world rankings and consistent performances in international competitions over the past year, as the coaching group eyes on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
"In terms of their ages and playing style, they can fit each other quite well," Xiao explained.
