GAZA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian authorities on Sunday condemned the Israeli cabinet's approval of setting up a national guard force by its national security ministry.
Stressing "the formation of the national guard will not frighten our people," spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah movement in Gaza denounced the Israeli move.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) spokesman in Gaza also condemned the Israeli decision, describing it as "a dangerous development" in a press statement.
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement that the cabinet approved the establishment of the force.
A committee consisting of all security agencies in the State of Israel, the national security council and the relevant government ministries would discuss the responsibilities of as well as control over the force.
The committee has 90 days to submit its recommendations. ■
