BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) --  Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:

1. IOC Executive Board reallocates London 2012 gold medal to China's Qieyang Shijie

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board took the decision on Thursday to reallocate the women's 20km race walk gold medal at London 2012 to China's Qieyang Shijie.

The IOC said in a press release that in the women's 20km race walk at London 2012, the first-placed athlete was disqualified, and the gold medal has now been reallocated to Qieyang Shijie, silver and bronze to China's Liu Hong and Lyu Xiuzhi. The ranking down to eighth place has been adjusted accordingly.


2. Making a splash: China's village basketball games go viral, benefiting local communities

The finals of the Guizhou "Gorgeous Countryside" Basketball League, dubbed by Chinese netizens as "CunBA", with 'Cun' meaning village in Chinese, were held last weekend in Taipan Village in Taijiang County, Guizhou Province.

The annual amateur basketball event has attracted widespread attention across the nation because of its electric atmosphere that rivals the CBA, the country's top professional basketball league.


3. Chengdu is ready to host a great Universiade: FISU

Officials from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) have expressed their confidence that Chengdu is ready to host a great World University Games in four-month time.

"Chengdu is really ready, and the organizing committee did the best they could do to welcome all our athletes from all over the world," Leonz Eder, acting president of the FISU, said in an interview during the Heads of Delegation (HoD) Meeting held in Chengdu.

The Games will be held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, from July 28 to August 8.


4. China bags eight golds at ISSF Bhopal World Cup

China's Zhang Jueming beat two Olympic champions en route to winning his first World Cup title in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event as the ISSF World Cup in Bhopal, India, concluded on Sunday.

Zhang Qiongyue was victorious in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions, contributing to China's dominating position on the medal tally with eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals from 10 events. India and Germany were second and third, each with one gold.


5. 48 teams to compete in China's professional football leagues in 2023 season

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) and Chinese Football League preparatory group announced on Wednesday that 48 clubs will compete in China's professional leagues in the 2023 season.

China's top three tiers, namely the Chinese Super League (CSL), China League One and China League Two, will each feature 16 clubs in the upcoming season, with eight clubs who competed in last season's professional leagues disqualified due to multiple reasons.

The CSL is preparing for its new season to kick off on April 15.
