NILI, Afghanistan, March 28 (Xinhua) -- At least two commuters were killed and eight others including women and children, injured as a mini-bus turned turtle in Afghanistan's central Daykundi province on Monday, said a statement of provincial police office released Tuesday.
Blaming reckless driving for the mishap, the statement said that the driver's carelessness in driving on a congested road in Shahrestan district Monday afternoon led to the death of two travelers and the injury of eight others including women and children, some of them in critical condition.
This was the fifth road accident in the country since last Tuesday. Eight more people had been killed and 21 others injured in four separate road accidents over the past week in Afghanistan.
Ramshackle roads, lack of security measures during travel, using old vehicles and reckless driving are blamed for road accidents in Afghanistan. ■
