LUOYANG, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Two stone beds with stone screens, which might date back between the late period of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) and the Eastern Wei Dynasty (534-550), were found in two of the three tombs discovered at a necropolis in Zhucang Village of Mengjin District in the city of Luoyang, central China's Henan Province. The necropolis was recently listed as one of Henan's top five archaeological discoveries in 2022.
This is the first time that folding-screen-style stone bed of the Northern Dynasties was unearthed in Luoyang. On each stone bed, there are four stone screens. Each stone screen has three motifs themed on the ancient stories about filial piety, scholars, and the tomb owner, providing new archaeological materials for studying the painting art in the Northern Wei Dynasty.
