A flock of Chinese merganser ducks, a species under first-class state protection in China, have been spotted on Chengbi Lake in south China's Baise City.
Nicknamed "living fossils with wings," Chinese mergansers are believed to be living on Earth for more than 10 million years, and are recognized indicators of environmental quality.
With the constant improvement of local ecology, the rare ducks along with other bird species have chosen Chengbi Lake as their wintering site.
