ASUNCION, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan manager Diego Aguirre has reached an agreement to take charge of Olimpia, the Paraguayan club said on Saturday.
The 57-year-old replaces Julio Caceres, who was sacked earlier this month following a poor run of results.
"The Uruguayan is the new manager of the first team. Welcome to your new home, coach," the Asuncion-based side said in a social media post.
Aguirre's last managerial position was with Mexico's Cruz Azul, with whom he parted ways last August.
He will begin his spell as Olimpia boss with a visit to General Caballero in Paraguay's top flight on Sunday. ■
