BUENOS AIRES, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Gabriel Avalos struck in second-half stoppage time as Argentinos Juniors stayed within sight of Argentina's Primera Division leaders on Friday with a 1-1 home draw against Arsenal Sarandi.
Luis Leal put the visitors ahead just after the hour with a cool finish after Tiago Banega's headed pass.
The equalizer came in the 97th minute when Avalos converted from the penalty spot after Facundo Ferreyra was brought down by Alejandro Medina.
The result leaves Argentinos Juniors ninth in the 28-team standings with 10 points from seven games, three points behind leaders Defensa y Justicia.
Arsenal Sarandi fell to third-last with just one win from seven outings so far. ■
