ISLAMABAD, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Three more terrorists were killed by the Pakistani army in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bringing the number of slain terrorists to nine during the last two days, a military statement said on Thursday.
The troops conducted a sanitization operation, following an intelligence-based operation on Wednesday in which six terrorists were killed in the tribal district of North Waziristan, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in the statement.
In the sanitization of the area by security forces, three more terrorists were killed after an intense exchange of fire, the statement added.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, the ISPR said.
According to the statement, the killed terrorists remained actively involved in activities against security forces and civilians.
"Locals of the area appreciated the security forces' response and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area," the ISPR added. ■
