YAN'AN, China, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Defending champions Wuhan defeated Shaanxi Zhidan 3-0 here on Wednesday in the second round of the 2023 Chinese Football Association Women's Super League.

Temwa Chawinga broke the deadlock for Wuhan after an outstanding solo show in the 12th minute.

Chinese international Wang Shanshan came off the bench at the beginning of the second half and made it 2-0 in the 76th minute through a powerful header.

Three minutes later, center back Zhao Yuxin headed in from a corner.

"Wang Shanshan, Lou Jiahui and Wu Haiyan had some injuries after completing national team's training camp. So I put Wang and Lou on the bench," Wuhan head coach Chang Weiwei told Xinhua after the match.

Although suffering two losses consecutively in the season, Liu Huana, head coach of Shaanxi Zhidan, was optimistic about her team's future.

"My goal is reaching the top eight in the Super League at the end of the season," Liu said.
