RIO DE JANEIRO, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo have signed Lanus defender Leonel Di Placido on a season-long loan, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
The agreement, which expires on December 31, includes an option for Botafogo to secure the 29-year-old Argentine on a permanent deal.
Di Placido has made 108 first-team appearances for Lanus since joining the Primera Division outfit from Atletico Tucuman in 2017.
In 2018, the right-back was called up by Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni for friendlies against Guatemala and Colombia but he was an unused substitute for both fixtures.
Di Placido is Botafogo's fourth new signing of 2023, joining midfielder Marlon Freitas, defender Luis Segovia and striker Carlos Alberto. ■
