BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislators on Wednesday gathered to study an important speech delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the second plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the plenum's guiding principles.
The meeting of the leading Party members group of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, was presided over by Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and secretary of its leading Party members group.
Attendees all shared the view that with various efforts led by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, steady progress has been made in all areas of the Party's and the country's endeavors toward the goal set by the 20th CPC National Congress.
The meeting noted the importance of the plan to reform Party and state institutions, which was adopted at the plenary session of the CPC Central Committee. It urged efforts to fully recognize the importance and urgency of the reform, strengthen confidence in the reform, and faithfully implement relevant tasks.
The meeting called for efforts to ensure the sound implementation of the CPC Central Committee's relevant decisions and arrangements through concrete actions, and to align thoughts and actions with the guiding principles of the plenary session of the CPC Central Committee.
It also urged sound preparations for the first session of the 14th NPC and the first session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. ■
