RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Anthony Landazuri converted the decisive spot-kick as Ecuador's Independiente del Valle secured their first Recopa Sudamericana title on Tuesday by beating Brazilian side Flamengo 5-4 on penalties.
Landazuri held his nerve with his team's fifth attempt of the shootout after Giorgian de Arrascaeta's opening effort was saved by Moises Ramirez.
Independiente del Valle entered the match with a 1-0 advantage after the first leg.
De Arrascaeta had put his team on level terms with a slick first-time finish after Everton Cebolinha's cross from the left flank in the 96th minute.
The Recopa Sudamericana pits the winners of the Copa Libertadores against the reigning Copa Sudamericana challenges. ■
