BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Sun Yuanliang, a former senior political advisor of northeast China's Liaoning Province, has been indicted for suspected bribe-taking, said an official statement on Tuesday.
The prosecution was brought by a procuratorate in the city of Chengde, Hebei Province, following the conclusion of an investigation into Sun's case by the National Commission of Supervision and upon the designation of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
The indictment said Sun, former vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, had taken advantage of his various posts in Liaoning Province to seek profits for others and accepted an especially huge amount of money and gifts in return.
The indictment also said that Sun was found to have used his influence after leaving his posts to seek illegitimate benefits for others and accepted a massive amount of money and gifts in return.
The prosecutors had informed the defendant of his litigation rights, interrogated him, and listened to the defense counsel's opinions. ■
