RAMALLAH, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Palestine will request a UN Security Council emergency session on the killing of ten Palestinians on Wednesday by Israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, the official Palestinian news agency quoted a Palestinian report as saying.
The report said that Palestine would request international protection for the Palestinian people in the Palestinian territories and condemn "the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Nablus."
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority requested an emergency meeting of the Arab League at the level of delegates, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki said in a press statement.
He also said the Palestinian Authority requested an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, adding that "the meetings aim at getting massive and individual condemnation of what the Israeli soldiers did in Nablus."
On Wednesday, ten Palestinians were killed and 102 were injured, including six in critical condition, by Israeli soldiers during an Israeli military operation in Nablus that lasted four hours.
The International Committee of the Red Cross expressed its "grave concern" about the events that took place in Nablus on Wednesday. ■
