NEW DELHI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- India's Home Ministry has allowed the country's premier investigating agency to launch a probe against Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in an alleged case of snooping, local media reported on Wednesday.

The ministry has given sanction to prosecute Sisodia under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the "Feedback Unit (FBU) snooping case".

"Filing false cases against your competitors is a sign of a weak and cowardly person. As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) grows, many other cases will be filed," the Delhi's deputy chief minister wrote on social media in his reaction.

His AAP party has called the allegations against Sisodia "completely fake".

The CBI had sought permission to register a case against Sisodia, who also heads the vigilance department of the Delhi government.

According to the allegations, a "Feedback Unit" was established by the AAP government in 2015 under the vigilance department to monitor the activities of ministries, opposition parties, organizations and individuals.

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena had approved the CBI's request for prosecution sanction and forwarded the same to the Home Ministry after the agency sought sanction to register a police case against Sisodia.

Sisodia is already facing a CBI probe in the Delhi liquor policy case.
