CAIRO, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and 23 others wounded on Friday when a four-storey residential building collapsed and an adjacent one was partly damaged in northern Egypt, sate-run Al-Ahram news website reported.
The building, located in Damanhur city of Beheira Province north of the capital Cairo, collapsed due to a gas cylinder explosion in the basement, Al-Ahram cited local authorities as saying.
Three children and three adults, including an 80-year-old lady, died in the incident, according to the report.
Thirty ambulances rushed to the scene and transferred the victims to the nearest public hospital.
The authorities provided two buildings for sheltering the affected households. ■
