NEW DELHI, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Readymade garment (RMG) buyers from Japan interacted with Indian sellers near New Delhi on Friday to promote garments exports from India to the East Asian nation.

The two-day "UpNext India", which kicked off in Gurugram, a town neighboring New Delhi, is organized by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the Market Access Initiative (MAI) Scheme.

As many as 84 prominent Japanese buyers, including trading companies and retail chains/stores, are in India to source their requirement from 112 Indian exhibitors displaying the diverse range of RMGs reflecting Japanese taste.

AEPC Chairman Narendra Goenka said that the Indian garment industry was blessed with strong raw material availability of cotton, jute, silk and wool, supported by world's second largest spinning and weaving capacity, which enables India to offer to the world a complete value chain solution "

The show will also host theme pavilions for the startups in the technology and sustainability domain, two very crucial areas where the Indian garment industry is making rapid transformations.

It will also witness a series of panel discussions on trade outlook, environmental, social and governance compliance, and emerging technologies.
