BAKU, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Thursday that four citizens of the country have been killed in the devastating earthquake in Türkiye.

"We have information about the death of four Azerbaijani citizens. A woman will be buried by her family in Turkey. Relevant measures are being taken to transport the bodies of other three people to Azerbaijan," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the ministry, nearly 400 Azerbaijani citizens have been evacuated from the quake-hit zones in Türkiye. "A total of 395 citizens have been sent to Azerbaijan by 9 buses, with 183 of them already reaching the territory of the country," the ministry said.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Emergency Situations said Azerbaijani rescue teams deployed to Türkiye's Kahramanmaras province, one of the areas hit worst by the deadly quake, have pulled 44 people, including nine children, alive from the rubble. They also found 164 bodies, the ministry added.

In addition, 725-strong rapid response search and rescue units from Azerbaijan have been sent to the earthquake-hit parts of Türkiye, according to the emergency authorities.
