AMMAN, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday sent messages of condolence to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad respectively after strong earthquakes jolted the two countries.
Expressing his sympathies and wishing the injured a speedy recovery, the Jordanian king said he had issued orders to aid the families impacted by the earthquakes, the Royal Hashemite Court said in a statement.
Also on Monday, Jordan's Lower House issued a statement to express condolences to and showed solidarity with Ankara and Damascus.
Jordan's Foreign Ministry also released a statement offering condolences over the loss of lives in the earthquakes.
More than 1,600 people were killed and thousands injured after strong earthquakes jolted parts of Türkiye and northwest of Syria early Monday. ■
