JERUSALEM, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Israel issued instructions to the public following the strong earthquakes that killed at least 1,300 people in Türkiye and Syria on Monday and were also felt in Israel.
After many Israeli residents reported that buildings were shaking and objects were moving on Monday, the Israeli Energy Ministry and the Geological Survey of Israel asked the public to fill out an online questionnaire regarding the earthquakes to gauge their intensity.
The Israeli Home Front Command (HFC), the Magen David Adom emergency service, and municipalities also issued guidelines for proper conduct in case of an earthquake.
"The fact that there has not been an earthquake in Israel for a long time increases the chance that an earthquake will occur soon," the HFC warned.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Ministry of Health instructed the hospitals throughout the country to prepare for sending medical aid and equipment to Türkiye.
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit southern Türkiye and its neighbor Syria early Monday, before two more quakes measuring 6.4-magnitude and 7.6-magnitude respectively continued to jolt Türkiye later in the day. ■
