Xixi National Wetland Park opened in 2005. It is located in Hangzhou's northwestern suburb and occupies about 10 square kilometers with rare and endangered aquatic animals and plants. In 2009, it was listed as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.
