BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- China remained the world's leading shipbuilder in 2022, grabbing the largest market share and making breakthroughs in high-end ship models.

Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed the country topped the globe in three major indicators, contributing 47.3 percent of global output, receiving 55.2 percent of new orders, and having 49 percent of holding orders.

China's shipbuilders have also taken strategic moves to snatch the high-end market.

Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., based in Rongcheng, east China's Shandong, is building 50 vessels of various types, with contracts worth 5 billion yuan (741.5 million U.S. dollars).

New Aden, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) with groundbreaking sails design, was delivered last year to its customer in China's coastal city of Dalian.

2022 marked the 13th straight year for Chinese ship manufacturers to hold the largest share of global markets. Six companies ranked as the world's top 10 shipbuilding enterprises.
