BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Guoan forward Zhang Yuning is set to miss the start of the 2023 Chinese Super League season after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier this month.
The 26-year-old Chinese international, who had the operation on his right shoulder on January 10, is to travel to the Netherlands next Saturday for rehabilitation, which is expected to take at least six weeks.
Considering that Zhang is not likely to be back in action until late April or early May, the striker will miss the beginning of the 2023 CSL season, which is set to begin in mid-April.
He also will miss China's national team training camp slated for March.
Zhang finished the 2022 CSL season as Beijing Guoan's top scorer, with 19 goals. ■
