NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar inched lower in late trading on Wednesday as market participants looked ahead to a key U.S. inflation report.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.05 percent to 103.1880.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0764 U.S. dollars from 1.0743 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2155 U.S. dollars from 1.2163 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 132.45 Japanese yen, higher than 132.22 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9311 Swiss francs from 0.9229 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.3422 Canadian dollars from 1.3421 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 10.4536 Swedish Kronor from 10.4184 Swedish Kronor.

The above market reactions came as the highly anticipated U.S. consumer price index for December is due on Thursday.
