WARSAW, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Poland right-back Bartosz Bereszynski is close to joining Napoli from Sampdoria and the two clubs are in advanced talks, Napoli's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said on Thursday.
Bereszynski, who played three games for Poland at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has already informed Sampdoria that he would like to sign a contract with Napoli, sources told Xinhua.
"Nothing is for sure and we will see what happens, but we are in talks with Sampdoria," Giuntoli told DAZN on Thursday.
The Italian was also asked about the possible transfer of Angers midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, as the Moroccan is also linked to Napoli. However, Giuntoli suggested a move for Ounahi is not close to completion.
Napoli lost 1-0 to Inter Milan on Wednesday evening, but they still sit top of the Serie A table, five points ahead of second-placed AC Milan. ■
