LA PAZ, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and 28 others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a ravine before dawn on Friday in eastern Bolivia.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. local time (0730 GMT) in the El Mirador area, Manuel Maria Caballero province when the bus was on its way to the town of Saipina, local police said.
It departed from the city of Santa Cruz on Thursday with 39 passengers on board.
Some of the injured told local media that the bus rolled several times as it plunged into the ravine, ejecting several passengers from the vehicle.
The injured received emergency care at the nearby Saipina Health Center, as well as at clinics in Amed and Melendres.
Relatives of the victims were waiting for the official transit report to determine the cause of the accident. ■
