TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran's police have disbanded four weapons and ammunition smuggling gangs in southeastern Iran, the official news agency IRNA reported on Tuesday.
About 100 types of war weapons, including belt Colt and Kalashnikov rifles and a significant amount of cartridges, were discovered and 15 people were arrested in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the provincial police commander Mohammad Qanbari told the IRNA.
Following the interrogation of the gang members, it was found that the weapons were imported to the country to carry out "riots," Qanbari was quoted as saying.
All border entry and exit points are now under control, he added. ■
