South Korea collects 2 golds at Short Track Speed Skating World Cup

BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- South Korea collected two gold medals while Chinese skaters failed to make any final A competitions on Day 2 of the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Park Ji-won of South Korea won the men's 1,500m in two minutes and 15.375 seconds, followed by Belgium's Stijn Desmet and South Korea's Hong Kyung-hwan.

In the mixed team relay, the South Korean team of Kim Gil-li, Lim Yong-jin, Park Ji-won and Shim Suk-hee took the gold medal in 2:37.791, ahead of Belgium and Poland.

Diane Sellier of Poland won the men's 500m (1) event in 41.104. On the women's side, Olympic champion Suzanne Schulting took the gold medal for the Netherlands in 43.123.

Courtney Sarault of Canada clinched the title in the women's 1,500m in 2:33.691, and Belgium's Hanne Desmet and South Korean skater Shim Suk-hee took silver and bronze medals respectively.
