Twenty-two Beninese employees working at Chinese companies were honored during an awarding ceremony held over the weekend in Cotonou, Benin's largest city, as part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Benin.

COTONOU, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-two best Beninese employees working at Chinese companies were honored during an awarding ceremony held on Saturday evening in Cotonou, Benin's largest city, as part of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Benin.

Of these employees, eight received the Great Contribution Award, seven the Great Dedication Award, and seven others the Great Virtue Award.

"It offers the opportunity to highlight the joint efforts of our two countries supported by the commitment and firm will of our heads of state in the well-understood interest of our two peoples," said the general secretary of the Beninese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Erick Jean-Marie Zinsou, during the ceremony.

Chinese Ambassador to Benin Peng Jingtao said he believes that the awarding ceremony will encourage local employees as well as Chinese companies to further contribute to the development of the West African country.
